What is a tear trough filler correction?

A tear trough correction (sometimes referred to as tear trough fillers, eye circle fillers, eye bag, eye hollow or eye socket correction) is an advanced and specialised non surgical, medical cosmetic procedure to correct deformities and imperfections in the tear trough or palpebromalar groove around the eyes. It is also possible to improve the appearance of malar mounds, eye bags and infra orbital areas such as the mediojugal groove. There are several non surgical treatment options available. Tear trough treatments are most commonly performed with dermal fillers to address tissue deficits, but may also be performed with PDO threads to lift sagging tissues and stimulate new collagen.

Treatments to correct tear troughs and dark eye circles

The appearance of tear troughs and dark circles around the eyes can be visually improved, and in many cases temporarily eradicated through a course of specialist treatments. Most procedures involve injectable dermal fillers, or a combination of cosmetic fillers and prescribed or prescription strength products designed specifically for the periorbital area.

A warning about tear trough fillers – CHOOSE YOUR CLINIC WITH UTMOST CARE!

Every year we perform an alarming number of corrective procedures to tear troughs from other clinics. Over the years we have assessed patients from other clinics with nodules, overfilling, blurred vision, headaches and product migration into neighbouring tissues. Many of the complications were not evident until 2-3 years post procedure. The reason is, overwhelmingly, incorrect dermal filler choice. Most clinics do not use a licensed tear trough filler, instead opting for Restylane which is cheaper, so they can offer you a more competitive price. Restylane is a respectable dermal filler brand but is not licensed for tear trough correction. Tear troughs require a special dermal filler formula and Teosyal Redensity II is licensed especially for injection in this area.

Our experience and safety record with tear troughs speaks for itself. We are a certified specialist clinic for Teosyal Redensity II and only ever use this licensed dermal filler for tear trough correction. As the UK safest medical skin clinc we have performed hundreds of tear trough filler treatments without a single injury or complication.

Irrespective of whether the practitioner is a surgeon, GP, dentist or nurse, non surgical tear trough correction is a highly specialised area and requires a specialist practitioner who understands both the tissue being injected and the dermal fillers for the job. Many clinics now offer this delicate procedure, but most do not have specialist training in place.

We believe every client should see evidence of standards of work for any given procedure before deciding on treatment. At Skin Beautiful clinics we always provide evidence of our high standards of work, for all clients and for every treatment we provide.

How will the results look?

Optimal results with Teosyal Redensity II are achieved approximately 14 days post procedure. During this time the circle around the eyes will gradually soften. It may be necessary for further product to be administered after 14 days, but in many cases satisfactory results are achieved in one treatment session. In addition, Teosyal Redensity II is specially formulated with a vitamin complex to lighten dark eye circles over a period of months. Results may last for 6-9 months depending on the condition and laxity of the skin and certain other factors including age of the client.

How long do tear trough filler treatments last

As with all dermal filler treatments the exact longevity of treatment depends on not only the amount of tear trough filler injected and the placement of the product but also the many extrinsic and biological factors such as the patient’s rate of metabolism, age, well being and lifestyle. It is reasonable to expect a treatment with Teosyal Redensity II tear trough fillers to last for approximately 6 months, or in some cases slightly longer.

What are the side effects of tear trough fillers?

Teosyal Redensity II is a specially formulated dermal filler for tear troughs, thus it yields less side effects than other dermal fillers. Clinical trials have demonstrated only very few side effects, all of which are mild. These are swelling, bruising and in rare cases oedema (fluid retention). Where any of the above do occur they tend to clear with 2-3 days at most.

Treatment recommendations

Tear trough filler treatments are particularly effective along with either a non surgical face lift or cheek augmentation. As neighbouring areas, these two treatments will help to restore correct upper facial volume. Either will blend seamlessly with a tear trough filler treatment.
