What causes forehead lines?

Forehead lines are associated with the action of raising one’s eyebrows. The frontalis muscles of the forehead contract in an upward direction causing the skin to crease. Forehead lines become more prevalent with age due in part to the changing volumes and elasticity of the skin.

Treatment for forehead lines

BOTOX® wrinkle relaxing injections are a highly effective way to treat forehead lines. Botulinum toxin type A is commonly injected into the skin at the forehead to relax the frontalis muscles. The result is a natural and more youthful appearance where moderate forehead lines are diminished.

Treatment recommendations

It is recommended that forehead lines are treated together with the other areas of the upper face: glabellar (frown) lines and/or crow’s feet (eyes). Treatment of forehead lines alone may accentuate the appearance of lines and wrinkles of neighbouring areas. Clients typically consider multiple upper facial areas as a positive approach to anti ageing.
