Mouth Lines (Marionette Lines)

What are mouth lines?

Mouth lines (marionette lines) are facial lines or folds that extend roughly from the corners of the mouth downwards. Depending on the individual, mouth lines may also appear as an extension to nasolabial folds or as drooping jowls.

Unlike many areas of the upper face, having mostly superficial lines mouth lines are characterised by a deeper, more pronounced indent, which in certain cases may result in the appearance of a fold at the area to either side of the chin.

As with other facial lines and wrinkles mouth lines become more prevalent with age, due in part to the changing elasticity of the skin.

How are they treated?

In most cases, mouth lines can be completely, temporarily removed with dermal filler injections. Many clients experience high satisfaction following a single treatment and then return for top-up treatments to remove any remaining indentation.

In more severe cases, the marionette line may appear as a deep fold. In these cases clients can expect a pleasant and natural softening of the area akin to a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers provide excellent, natural looking results, particularly with additional treatments.
